Hello. Welcome to my year-in-review. Pictures that probably should've been added in with the daily grinds, but didn't quite get developed or scanned in time. Tough shit, i'm putting them here. All photographs taken by Pete Dirksen unless otherwise noted. Warning, this page is graphically intensive.
This picture was from a very interesting Yosemite trip that me and my friends, Mike, Dave, and Cornelia took on a 4th of July weekend during the summer after our graduation from Crystal Springs Uplands School. It was quite an adventure and I have many interesting stories from that trip. I'd write about our car trip home but i might gloss over some of the interesting details such as the fact that I thought we wouldn't make it out of an East Bay parking lot, alive. This was just one "highlight" of the trip, maybe i'll write about it more someday.
This picture was taken on a day hike to some lake or another. I think it was on the Ten Lakes hike. I can't quite remember but i'd be able to find the trail if i had a map handy. I do remember that Cornelia and I kept a brisk pace on this hike, only to escape the hungry mosquitos which swarmed and terrorized hikers who just wanted to stop and enjoy the scenery. Mike missed this hike as he was looking after Dave back at base-camp, who unfortunately fell ill. Yosemite is quite beautiful, don't you think?
Mike Bostock, on the plateau above the Ten Lakes. Notice Mike's empty water bottle and his bug repellant in hand, ready to use at any moment. Mike attends Princeton University and still uses Macintosh computers. Oh well, no ones perfect. Mike definitely had a tough time with the mosquitos on this trip. Remember Mike, its all in your mind. If you don't think about them, your mosquito bites won't itch.
Is it just me,
or does that piece of wood in the background look like a dragon? These two pictures were taken
along the trail leading to Ten Lakes. The lake, pictured to the right,
was a lunch stop, from what i can remember.
